Costume designer William Travilla originally created a gem-studded bikini for Marilyn Monroe to perform “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. However, facing fallout from some nude photographs Marilyn had taken as a struggling actress several years before, the studio nixed the risqué ensemble. Travilla quickly whipped up the now-iconic pink dress to replace it.

Now that’s a gown. We honestly don’t have any words to describe these pieces, they are simply too striking. If you showed up to any prom in a dress that resembled this Zuhair Murad Collection (Spring 2013 Couture) in the slightest way, we would immediately brand you a goddess and hopefully you would feel like one too!
